Power BI - Git integration
Hi everyone,
Although I have a personal Power BI premium per User workspace and an account with a Power BI premium per User licence I cannot configure git integration for my workspace.
I get the following error message:
'You need a Premium license for this workspace to continue. Learn more'
Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is very interesting. Are you able to check what licenses you have in the Azure admin portal? I'm wondering if there's something messy going on with PPU/free licenses somewhere?

It's weird that both users have PPU and only one can actually configure the Git integration and the other one can't. Let's make sure that the tenant settings at admin portal regarding git integration can be done by both of the users. Another thing I was thinking was the tenant. Are you login with an account of the same tenant? or are you login to another company tenant with your company account? are the azure devops account in the same tenant than the power bi?
Those could create trouble.

Hi. My guess is that PPU Trial is not the same as PPU. The Trials have some limitations to specific features. For example, fabric capacity trial won't let you use copilot, but if you purchase fabric you do have copilot. Maybe this is the same with PPU.
Even though the docs doesn't specify the license Premium Per User in the Git Integration. I do have workspaces working like that with Github. I have just logged in with Azure Devops to try it:
Consider that DevOps organization should match the region of the PPU service region.

Many thanks for your help. I just cancelled the fabric trial licence to check if that was the issue. Seems weird to me that a fabric trial would override PPU functionality but I wanted to check anyway.
However I am still getting the same error.
A colleague of mine also having a PPU licence can when given admin rights to the same workspace use git functionality without issues with his account. So it seems to be an issue related to my account. But I really cannot figure out what is the issue then cause our licences are both Power BI PPU.

I checked again today and it seems the problem miracously solved itself.
It is no possible again for me to use git integration without problems.
I did not change anything and as far as I know our IT admins did not do anything neither.
So maybe it was just a temporary bug.

This feature required a F sku or P sku capacity according to the documentation. Permium per user doesn't seem to be enough for GIt integration.Get started with Git integration - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Fabric prerequisites
To access the Git integration feature, you need a Fabric capacity. A Fabric capacity is required to use all supported Fabric items. If you don't have one yet, sign up for a free trial. Customers that already have a Power BI Premium capacity, can use that capacity, but keep in mind that certain Power BI SKUs only support Power BI items.
In addition, the following tenant switches must be enabled from the Admin portal:
- Users can create Fabric items
- Users can synchronize workspace items with their Git repositories
- Create workspaces (only if you want to branch out to a new workspace.)
- Users can synchronize workspace items with GitHub repositories: For GitHub users only
These switches can be enabled by the tenant admin, capacity admin, or workspace admin, depending on your organization's settings.
