Hi everyone,
I have an issue with the On-Premise Gateway. I was shared with the On-Premise Gateway installed in the server computer. I can create connections sourced from databases but cannot do that with sources from shared folders although those shared folders can be accessed with the owner's account. Previously, I was shared with the On-Premise Gateway and I could create the connections with all sources that the server computer can access using my corporate window account. But now, I cannot do that with my corporate window account.
Please help show me the root cause and the possible resolution for this issue.
Great thanks
hi @ rajendraongole1,
thanks for your response.
1. my corporate Windows account has both Read and Write permissions on the shared folder. my own On-Premise Gateway can access those shared folders.
2. Folder path are ok.
in the image:
1 - Personal Gateway -> can access both database and shared folders using my corporate window account.
2 - On-Premise Gateway installed in my company PC -> can access both database and shared folders using my corporate window account.
3 - On-Premise Gateway installed in company server PC -> database access is ok but cannot create connections to shared folders using my corporate window account. this gateway was installed with the administrator account and share to other users.
I haven't still found the root cause for this issue yet. 😞
Hi @SuperFrankie -if the owner’s account can access the shared folders, your corporate Windows account may not have the necessary permissions.
Check the shared folder's permissions:Ensure that your corporate Windows account has both Read and Write permissions on the shared folder. You may need to contact the folder owner or IT support to ensure that your account is granted the appropriate permissions.Make sure that the service account running the On-Premise Data Gateway has permissions to access the shared folders:Check which account the gateway is using (this can be checked in the gateway settings).Grant the service account permissions to the shared folder.Go to the On-Premise Data Gateway settings and verify if the folder path is correctly configured.Check for any restrictions on the types of data sources that can be accessed. When adding a new data source in Power BI:Ensure that you are using the correct credentials to connect to the shared folder.Try re-adding the data source in the gateway configuration with the appropriate permissions.
Hope this information helps.
