Power BI Embedded for self service

Hi,

Our organization is planning to use Power BI Embedded(EM SKUs) for reporting. What will we be missing if we use embedded SKUs instead of Premium (P SKUs). With Embedded (EM SKUs), can we allow self service for end users by providing free license?

Can we share, subscribe and colloborate in workspaces on Embedded SKUs just like we do on Pro/Premium workspaces(P1) ?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Power BI Embedded is a great choice for organizations that want to embed Power BI reports into their own applications, websites, or portals. However, there are some limitations to using Embedded SKUs instead of Premium SKUs.

One of the main differences between Embedded and Premium SKUs is the level of control you have over the environment. With Premium, you have full control over the environment, including the ability to manage capacity, configure security, and more. With Embedded, you are limited to the features and capabilities provided by the API.

In terms of licensing, you cannot provide free licenses to end users with Embedded SKUs. To allow end users to access reports, you will need to purchase additional capacity and assign licenses to those users.

Regarding sharing, subscribing, and collaborating in workspaces, these features are available in both Pro/Premium and Embedded SKUs. However, there may be some limitations to the level of collaboration you can achieve with Embedded, depending on the specific features and capabilities you need.
