Power BI Embedded Web URL Requires Manual Refresh to Load in Browser

Hi All,

I've encountered an unusual issue with the Web URL link functionality in my Power BI report. Specifically:

  1. I have inserted a Web URL into a table visual in Power BI. When a user clicks this link, it correctly opens a new tab in the default browser, as expected.
  2. However, the newly opened tab does not load the page content immediately. Instead, the user has to manually refresh the tab to get the page to display.

Additional context:

  • The Power BI report is embedded within a SaaS platform.
  • The URL link points to a page within the same SaaS platform (not a general web page).
  • The URL itself is correct and has been set as a Web URL in the data category in Power BI.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue where a Web URL link opens a new tab but fails to load until refreshed? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello @muturuf ,
Please check the below mentioned points regarding the issue you are facing:

  • Check SaaS Platform Security Settings: Ensure no security policies (CSP or iframe restrictions) are blocking or delaying the content load.
  • Test Outside Embedded Environment: Check if the problem occurs when opening the Power BI report outside the SaaS platform.
  • Update Embed Code: Ensure the latest Power BI embedding SDK and iframe code is used in the SaaS platform.
  • Verify URL Format in Power BI: Ensure the URL is marked as a "Web URL" in Power BI and is correctly formatted.
  • Clear Browser Cache/Test Different Browsers: Test in different browsers and clear the cache to rule out browser-related issues.
  • Investigate Redirects: If the URL redirects, ensure the browser handles it without needing a refresh.
  • Open URL in a New Window: Consider modifying the link to open in a new window instead of a new tab.
  • Contact SaaS Support: If the issue persists, the problem may be specific to the SaaS platform's handling of embedded content.

If this is helpful for you, Please let me know.

    Thank You.
