Power BI Datasets and URLs

Hi Everyone,

Relatively new to Power BI and hoping for some help. In short I am attempting to ultilze an Excel file that lives in a MS Teams environment. I can make this connection no problem in Power BI Online and bring the data in. I can get the URLs to be clickable via conditional formatting but I can't get the web url icon to function. From my reading it seems that the category of that column needs to be adjusted to "web url". That task is only feasible via Power Bi Desktop but you can't change the category of a PBI DataSet.

So I guess I am looking for advice for the scenario where I want to keep a report constantly updated via Excel data and have the ability to have clickable links and use the web url icon so the people viewing the report don't need to stare at these long ugly links.

Thank You

    Hi awhelan404 ,

To display a hyperlink icon instead of a URL, you need to set the URL column type to "Web URL" as following screenshot.
