Hi Anonymous ,
Do you use a Salesforce free trail account?
From this article, there is a limitation when using free trail account to create a entity to get data from Salesforce:
"Salesforce connector - Using a trial account for Salesforce with dataflows results in a connection failure with no information provided. To resolve this, use a production Salesforce account or a developer account for testing."

Hi, were you able to find a solution? I think in this case there's no need to use a dataflow. As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi there,
If the error appears immediately after selecting Salesforce in a Power BI Dataflow, before the login window opens, I would first check the Salesforce account type.
There is a known limitation where Salesforce trial accounts can fail with dataflows without a clear error message. If this is a trial org, test with a Salesforce production account or developer account instead.
I would also check:
The Salesforce user has API Enabled permission.
The connection uses a supported Salesforce production or custom domain URL.
It is not using a Lightning URL.
A small test dataflow with one simple Salesforce object also fails.
If the Salesforce Dataflow connector path keeps failing, another option is to test a different Salesforce-to-Power BI setup.
Power BI Connector for Salesforce by Metrica Software can help: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=31526f0e-abd8-4cb5-bd1a-3bd56b5c0577
It lets you prepare Salesforce data sources inside Salesforce, select objects and fields, apply filters, preview the output, and connect Power BI to a prepared source.
This will not fix a Power BI Dataflow connector limitation by itself, but it can help avoid relying on that specific Dataflow Salesforce connection path if it keeps failing.
