Hi,
I have a data model in Power BI that loads from an on premise BW on Hana queries. The loads work fine in Desktop, but they are failing after taking too long once moved to the Service. I tried reducing the number of records and improving the data model in PowerBI, but I still get the same symptoms.
This data model was loading correctly for months, it feeds only one dashboard and it was just after we added a new tab in the dashboard that started to fail.
Here is the error message in PBI Service:
Data source error: {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessError","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"SAP Business Warehouse: no SAP ErrInfo available\nRETURN CODE: 18"}},{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult","detail":{"type":1,"value":"-2147467259"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourceKind","detail":{"type":1,"value":"SapBusinessWarehouse"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.DataSourcePath","detail":{"type":1,"value":"vbwapr.chamberlain.com/BPA/300/Interfaces"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.ErrorCode","detail":{"type":1,"value":"101"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Message","detail":{"type":1,"value":"no SAP ErrInfo available\nRETURN CODE: 18"}},{"code":"Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason","detail":{"type":1,"value":"DataSource.Error"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}}
Any help is appreciated.
Hi @ols ,
Thanks for @lbendlin reply. Here is my addition, based on the error code you provided, RETURN CODE: 18 usually indicates a problem with the connection between Power BI and the SAP BW system. This could be due to a network issue, a configuration issue, or a problem within the SAP BW system. First, check the network connection to ensure that there are no problems with the network connection between the Power BI service and your local SAP BW on HANA system. Second, verify that the SAP BW system is functioning properly and that there are no known issues that could cause connectivity problems. Check the SAP error logs. Finally, because you are using a local data gateway, double-check its configuration to ensure that it is set up correctly and can communicate with the SAP BW system. Make sure that the gateway service is running and that the correct credentials are being used.
Best regards,
Albert He

Thanks, but unfortunately that note is only for SAP S/4 systems. I am working in a BW on HANA 7.4 SP20
