Power BI Audit Log Operation Meaning

Hi All,

I've got a dataset on user activity in Power BI from extracting audit logs in Powershell. I noticed an operation "AnalyzedByExternalApplication" has been completed many times by users and I can't find a definition of what this means online.

Can anyone clarify what this operation means? I suspect it could be when a user uses a power bi report as a dataset in Power BI desktop but not sure, and could it mean users using any other applications?

    hi iww9

Audit log future is accessing only who's have admin rights in your organization. this future is mainly used for auditing purpose in power bi.

I mean in particular period of time how many time's he/she accessing the reports / dashboards and users wise auditing also they're calculated every time.

this type of future all are related to PowerBi admin department are handled.

      Hi Naveen,

Thanks for your response and the link.

My question is to find out what specifically triggers the operation "AnalyzedByExternalApplication" which has the friendly name "Analyzed Power BI dataset" in your link. Is it when a user uses the dataset in power bi desktop or can it be something else?

    Hi iww9 ,

It maybe refer to that the Power BI Service reports are opened and analyzed in someone application which reports are embed in via embed or Embed in SharePoint Online.

    Best Regards,

    Amy
