Power BI Apps
I am not certain if this is a Power BI Apps question that was raised before.
Is there a way that you can add another Section under an existing Section when adding your Content? As far as I know you can only add one Section and then have your Reports within that Section.
In other words based on the screenshot, you have an existing Section (green arrows) and you have existing Reports within that Section (yellow highlights). Then add another Section / Hierachy within the first section (something that you can rename like a 2026 as the year for instance). See Orange arrow on screenshot.
Would Microsoft consider adding this as feature if the requirement is not possible currently?

Hi JohannSA
Short answer: ❌ No, this is not possible today.
Details (brief):
-
Power BI Apps support only one level of Sections.
-
You cannot create sub-sections / nested hierarchy under an existing section.
-
Sections → Reports/Dashboards only (flat structure).
Workarounds:
-
Use naming conventions (e.g.
2026 – Financial Reporting) -
Split content into multiple apps
-
Use links to reports/pages instead of nesting
Feature request:
-
✅ This is a known limitation
-
Microsoft accepts requests via Power BI Ideas
-
Nested sections / folders in Apps is a commonly requested feature
Bottom line:
Nested sections (like Year → Category → Report) are not supported in Power BI Apps as of now.Did I answer your question? Mark my post as a solution! Appreciate your Kudos !!
