Power BI Apps: Pin a visual to a dashboard

Hello,

Why it is not able to pin a visual from a Power BI App. My stakeholders want to see required visuals from various reports/dashboard in a single view.

But i don't see any option of a pin a visual from app.

Does someone know how we can achieve this, or is there any setting to enable it from Admin in Power BI Service.

Regards,

Subramaniyam Das

  • Hi,

You can't pin visuals directly from a Power BI App because apps are view-only. To pin visuals, go to the original report in the workspace (not the app), and pin them to a dashboard from there. Then you can include that dashboard in the app for your stakeholders to view all key visuals in one place.

Please refer this thread, Why can't I pin a vizual to a dashboard from an application

    Thanks,

    Hello,

The issue is i have various stakeholders who wants the visual to be pinned as per their need. And i can't create individual dashboards for them.

      Hi Subramaniyam ,

      Thanks for the clarification .

You're right creating and maintaining separate dashboards for each stakeholder's specific needs can quickly become unmanageable, especially at scale.

Unfortunately, Power BI doesn’t currently support pinning visuals directly from an App or allowing end users to pin visuals themselves within the app experience.

As a workaround try to achieve this, If your stakeholders have build access to the workspace, they can create their own personal bookmarks or dashboards from the reports. This allows them to customize the view to their needs without affecting the shared or published content.

If it doesn't work,I suggest submitting your detailed feedback and ideas through Microsoft's official feedback channels, such as Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Feedback submitted through these channels is frequently reviewed by the product teams and can contribute to meaningful improvements.

  • Hi Subramaniyam ,

Pinning visuals directly from a Power BI App to a dashboard isn't supported, which is why you're not seeing that option. Once a report is published and packaged into an app, it's essentially in a read-only format from a user's perspective, and interactive features like pinning visuals are disabled. To achieve your goal of creating a single view with visuals from multiple reports, you’ll need to pin those visuals from the original reports in the workspace before publishing the app.

You can create a dashboard by pinning visuals from different reports within the workspace, and then include that dashboard in the app. Alternatively, if your users just need a consolidated view, consider building a dedicated summary report that pulls in the necessary data from multiple datasets and then publish that as part of the app. There's no admin setting to enable pinning from an app, as it’s a design limitation of how apps are intended to work.
