Power BI App Setup OData Connection
Hi,
I'm feeling like an idiot righ now but I can't figure out how to properly setup my odata source through the online app.
I have an On-Prem data gateway. All of my reports are coming from a common data source via NAV Odata.
My questions are for the following screen in PBI Online:
Does the new data source have to a specific name? I don't think there is one that is set in NAV.
I know the URL which should work
What authentication method is used with on-prem for odata? Anon/Basic/?Windows? I'm thinking Anon
Advanced - is this even used? (none/private/public/organizational)
I have googled and checked videos etc and can't find the answer for this.

Hi pcowman
How do you connect to NAV Odata?
For most sceniaro, you could connect to Microsoft Dynamics NAV with Power BI, follow this aritcle, pay attention to the URL, authentication method.
Settings in Gateway should be the same as which you used to connect to data source.
Additionally, Under Advanced settings, optionally configure the privacy level) for your data source (does not apply to DirectQuery).
By deflaut, you can choose organizational.
Best Regards
Maggie

That will only work for odata that is externalized. This company hasn't externalized yet. I'm going to try some different scenarios for hookup through the data gateway.

Ok, I figured it out. Thanks for the point to that, it made me rethink what I was doing.
I set it to Windows and used the admin info and bam, got it working.
