Power Automate approval links not working after user migration (TATA ➜ INFY tenant)
Hi All,
Currently all users (e.g., [email protected], [email protected]) and Power BI reports were hosted in the TATA tenant.
We recently migrated users from TATA tenant to INFY tenant, while the Power BI reports and Power Automate flows remain in the TATA tenant.
Issue:
Earlier, there was a Power Automate flow that handled account approvals in the TATA tenant.
After the user migration, users report that the Power Automate approval links (from the TATA tenant) are no longer working.
Error is "Error: You are not permitted to make flows in this 'abcd'. Please switch to the default environment, or to one of your own environment(s), where you have maker permissions."
I suggested two possible steps:
a) Export the flows from TATA tenant
b) Import them into INFY tenant
However, the user clarified:
“These flows are for the TATA business, approving accounts in their tenant.
The automations would need to stay in the TATA tenant.”
Question:
Given that the flows must stay in the TATA tenant but users are now in the INFY tenant, what are my options to restore access or functionality for these approval links?
Please suggest how to resolve this.
Thank you
Hi YashikaAgrawal,
What i can suggest is ti add Infy users in TATA Tenant as guest users :-
Try below steps
1. Invite INFY users to the TATA tenant
Use Microsoft Entra B2B or cross-tenant sync to bring INFY users into the TATA tenant as guest users.
This creates a guest identity in TATA that can receive and respond to approval requests.2. Check licensing
Make sure each guest user has the required Power Automate or Microsoft 365 license in the TATA tenant.
You can assign licenses individually or through a group-based assignment.3. Give environment access
If the TATA Power Platform environment is restricted to a specific security group, add the guest users to that group.Power Automate approvals now rely on Dataverse.
When an approval is assigned to someone who doesn’t already have access, Power Automate automatically grants them the Approvals User role in Dataverse.
However, if the environment is restricted, you’ll still need to explicitly allow those guests to enter it.4. How approvers should act
Guest users can receive approval emails, but the Outlook actionable cards don’t work for guests.Instead, they need to:
-
Go to the Power Automate portal
-
Use the tenant switcher (top right corner) to switch to the TATA tenant
-
Open the Approvals section to review and approve requests
If users see the error “You are not permitted to make flows in this environment”, it means they don’t have access to the TATA environment.
To fix this, either grant them Environment access (and Environment Maker rights if needed), or ask them to go directly to the Approvals page after switching to the TATA tenant.5. Handle pending approvals
Approvals that were already sent to the old TATA accounts won’t automatically transfer to the new INFY accounts.
You’ll need to reassign or recreate those pending approvals in Dataverse.🌟 I hope this solution helps you unlock your Power BI potential! If you found it helpful, click 'Mark as Solution' to guide others toward the answers they need.
