Advocate IIPoint Power BI Service to another dataset
Accidentally deleted an existing dataset where my Power BI report using the Power BI Service was linked to. I reuploaded the dataset under another group. is there a method to point my existing Powe...
I did only copy the connection file and have the latest powerbi.
Note that I ended up fixing it by restoring the group/workspace that was accidentally deleted by a collaegue.

Advocate IISo this is what I did:
- I created a copy of my original (original.pbix) and had original-copy.pbix
- I created a new report (new.pbix) and connected to the dataset via Power BI Service
- I renamed new.pbix to new.zip
- I renamed original-copy.pbix to original-copy.zip
- I extracted new.zip to a folder called new
- I copied the connection file in new folder
- I pasted the connection file into the original-copy.zip and chose the copy-replace option
- I renamed original-copy.zip to original-copy.pbix
When I opened the file, it says the file is corrupt or created in another version of PowerBI

That should work as I had done that in the past.
And to confirm that you only copied the "Connection" file.
Also do you have the latest version of Power BI Desktop installed?
