Personal Workspace
I have couple of questions:
1. What happens to the reports, dashboards, etc on the personal workspace of the user who left the company and the account is disabled & deleted?
2. As a PowerBI Admin, how to get access to a Personal Workspace and export the reports from it? I tried to give access using Add-PowerBIWorkSpaceUser, but the command fails stating 'Unauthorized'.

In this case, you would need a O365 Global Admin or Power bi service admin roles, then you can access to Power BI Admin Portal and assign new users to the workspace.Paul Zheng

Anonymous My concern is, I am not getting that option for the personal workspace. Refer the screenshot. I tried this using the Global Admin account as well as PowerBI Admin account.

1. If the account has been disabled and deleted I do not think you can recover it because the underlying SID is no longer available.
2. It could be failing because that only applies to App Workspaces which is different to My Workspace- VishnooMicrosoft Employee
GilbertQ Thanks for your response.
1. Does it have any process to prevent loss of data in personal workspace? For Eg: Give access to his/her manager and send notifications about the deletion date? Just like the way it happens in OneDrive: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/retention-and-deletion?redirectSourcePath=%252farticle%252fef883c48-332c-42f5-8aea-f0e2366c15f9
2. Are you saying that there is no way for an admin to get into personal workspace?
- GilbertQSuper UserHi there
Currently there is not an option for question 1.
For question 2 as far as I know this is not currently possible

Within the original post, it seems the options are limited once an account has been disabled & deleted.
I encountered a similar scenario, as we are about to disable an account & need to obtain visibility to a user's My Workspace (in order to grab the .pbix & prevent rework). 1) Admin assigns permission to the My Workspace 2) Get what's needed; then remove the inactive account.
