Personal Gateway

Hi all

 

I'm having a continual problem where my personal gateway goes offline and I can't get it back online again. This appears to be happening whenever I switch on my PC each day (gateway was online previous day before PC was shut down).  Is there a quick way to get the gateway back online again the next day ?

    Paulx99 Personal and Enterprise gateway has been rebranded as one data gateway. I would uninstall old personal gateway and install new data gateway. Then look if problem still exists and troubleshoot. Reading from your question, it sounds like some sort of automatic start issue when PC restarts. You should check under services as gateway runs as a service to ensure start type is automatic.

      Thanks for your reply.  I wasn't aware there was a 'new' data gateway. Anyway, I followed your advice and uninstalled the 'old' gateway and installed the 'new' gateway. I then went into PBI Service and the gateway was online.

       

      However, as a test, I then shutdown my PC, then restated my PC, then went back into PBI Service and again (as has occurrred many times previously), the gateway is offline.

       

      I went into Services, but cannot see the gateway service in there. What is the exact name of the gateway service that I should be looking for in Services so I can ensure the start type for it is set to automatic ?

    Hi Paulx99,

    Please log in your machine with an admin account, and make sure that you have added the Admin account to have rights to logon as a service. Then click the personal gateway installation package and choose “Run as administrator” to install the gateway.

    After the installation completes, go to Services, confirm the Data Management Gateway Service(personal gateway service name is still called the old Data Management Gateway) is running and make sure that the startup type of the personal gateway service is set to Automatic. In this case, restart your machine and check if  personal gateway is online.

      Hi Lydia

       

      Thanks for your reply. I have already done everything as per your first paragraph below. However, when I go to Services, I cannot see a Service called 'Data Management Gateway' running and therefore can't set it to Automatic.

       

      Yet, it is somewhere, because when I boot up my PC each day, the Personal Gateway is offline. The only way I can get it online is to click on Search from the Start Menu and type in "Personal", which then displays the Personal Gateway icon, after which I click on the icon and the Personal Gateway is then online. when  Ishut down my PC at the end of the day, it again goes offline and then I have to go through the same procedure I just described above, to get it back online.

       

      If can help me locate where in Services this thing is so I can set it to automatic, that would be great !
