Permission Issue

Hi,

I've come across a bit of a weird issue.  I have a user who is a workspace admin:

But when I add a new report despite being listed as an Admin they have to request access to the report:

If I Approve that request nothing changes in the permissions but they can then see the report.  If I try and pre-empt their request by giving them permission it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mark

If the user does not have access to the dataset underlying the report you created, then the user cannot access your new report, even though he is the administrator of the workspace but that does not mean he can see all the contents of the workspace.

For example, if you have a dataset that he does not have access to, and you use your dataset to create a new report in your shared workspace, that report will not be accessible to that user, even though he is the workspace administrator.

    Hope this helps.

The dataset lives in the same workspace as the report so the workspace Admins do get access to the dataset don't they?

The user does not get the message you posted but gets the message that lets them request access to the report, even though they are listed in the permissions for the report and dataset.

        Hi, Anonymous

I cannot reproduce this issue. What message does the user get? How do you add data sets to this workspace?, how are new reports created?, Are the new reports based on multiple datasets, for example, based on a certain dataset that the user cannot access?
Not sure if this is an accident, please try to republish the dataset to this workspace and create a new report to check if the problem still exists.

By the way, it is recommended to erase the email information in the screenshot above
