Hi,
I have created a dataset in PBI desktop that has two parameters. They are used to hold the server and database name to connect to. The data source connection then relies on these two parameters.
The idea is to connect in PBI desktop to a dev environment with a limited number of records for each table and then change the source to production after publishing it to the PBI service.
After publishing I change the parameter value in PBI service for this dataset (under dataset settings) so it reads the data from the production environment. This all works well, but each time I change the dataset and publish it to PBI service again, the parameter value is set back to the value it had in PBI desktop. This really feels unlogical to me. Is this the intended behaviour?
Also, the parameter value is set with a list of values to choose from. Why is this list not sent to the PBI service as well?
Regards,
Robert

That is the way it works @Robert_D . I like your ideas though. I would look for similar ideas here https://aka.ms/PBI_Comm_Ideas and if not there, create a new one. I'd vote for it!

Well @Greg_Deckler, let's try to get this idea under their attention. I created a new idea for it.
Thank you for responding!
