Paginated reports row level security

Hi All,
We have started using paginated reports within powerbi service recently. Our data source is Azure sql server. We are looking for a way to have row level security in paginated reports. The users have been added in different AD groups as per their roles and access levels. Could someone please advise what options i could try to filter the data based on the powerbi service login ? And how do i pass the powerbi service login to database ? Or please suggest some other ways to achieve RLS in paginated reports.
Thanks,
Shanawaz

Could you please advise if there has been any update on having row level security on paginated reports connected to Azure SQL database ?

Yes, you should be able to use oAuth and check the box for users to connect under their identity.  It's covered in the documentation - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports-data-sources

Hi @shanawazsheriff ,

Current RLS only works on report server or database side, you can't enable RLS on paginated report.

For your requirement, you can submit an idea for this requirement.

RLS is available if you're using Azure Analysis Services or Power BI datasets.  Azure SQL database will support RLS by the end of June

If RLS is supported in Azure AS, why isn't supported in SSAS? (I presume we're talking about using RLS with Paginated Reports)

Because of the gateway, essentially.  There's work we need to do to go and enable that and what we did for Azure AS couldn't be directly translated back to on-prem because of the Gateway work.  It's still planned, and you can use the technique outlined here to still enforce row-level permissions in an on-prem AS instance today - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/report-paginated-data-retrieval

Could you please advise if tehre has been any updates on the RLS for Azure SQL database ?

You should see this supported via oAuth for Azure SQL db by the end of the week (or weekend).

Is OAuth also supported for SQL databases? Not Azure SQL.
