Paginated report parameter in DAX
It takes a bit of finageling, but you can probably get it to work. A very simple expression example for a SQL query. ="Select * from " & Parameters!Customers.Value
Yours might be more like ="COUNT(" & Parameters.parameter_TableName.Value + "[Field1])"
this is not working
CALCULATE(COUNT(Parameters.tablename.Value[field]). Its' not even running

It will not run in the query designer, only as an expression as your dataset. The syntax needs to be ="COUNT(" & Parameters.parameter_TableName.Value & "[Field1])" similar to shown in the picture.

Write your query, then edit the dataset(right click in the left side dataset section where your dataset is). There is an expression button next to the query, can see in picture.

So, the expression would be something like this:
="EVALUATE COUNT(" & Parameters.parameter_TableName.Value & "[Field1])"
