Paginated report RDL file size limit
Hi All,
Im facing an issue while trying to deploy my paginated report to Power BI Service , it shows report file (rdl) size limit to 12Mb while my file is currently 13Mb, , the file includ only required tables and graphs.
Is there any way to increase the limit upload for rdl files to Power BI service more than 12mb ?
Thank you
Hi mnanass,
The limit is 12mb and is not configurable. I would guess you are using embedded images, as it is very hard to get an RDL that size without images. You have some options.
1. Change the images to database or url links.
2. Reduce the physical size of the images to fit the size you are displaying.
3. If not already, make the images .jpg to reduce their physical size.

- GilbertQSuper UserHi there
As far as I know that is not currently possible.
Would it be possible to reduce the size of the RLD (12MB is a rather large file)?
Or if all fails you could log a support ticket for assistance?- CoxRNew Member
Howdy ... Same issue here. Been working on a large report for over a week. No images, just many pages of financial records in wide matrices. Haly way through the report and hit the 12mb limit. This needs to be addressed. Why place a size limit of 12mb when publishing to a premium workspace?
When attempting to upload from within the service you get a better message:
I've raised a ticket - will report back with their response.

Just curious, what are you putting in the report to make it so large? The only two things I can think of that make it that big would be raw data and images. Both of which you can get externally and not store in a report.

Hi Anonymous,
I checked the documents but not found any limitations and improve methods. I think current you can't do any improvements in publishing RDL file size limit on power bi service side.
Perhaps you can try to directly publish it from the report builder to confirm if it prevents this issue.
Publish a paginated report to the Power BI service
