Paginated Report not exporting when embedded in Power BI Report

Hi,

Having a problem with a report that was working fine on 10/06/2022 but now when I try and export to PDF the paginated report visual is not displaying and is giving the following error message "This visual does not support exporting."

I have tried rebuilding a very simplified version of the reports (both paginated and power bi report) and placing the 2 new files in to a new workspace but I am receiving the same error on this too.  Reports work fine when run on the Power BI service, just the export which is causing an issue.

Any support will be much appreciated.

Hi  @nealjones1 ,

Please review the part "Limitations and considerations" in this official documentation and you will find the below limitation when work with the Export to PDF feature:

  • Power BI visuals that have been certified are supported. For more information on certified Power BI visuals, including how to get a Power BI visual certified, see Get a Power BI visual certified. Power BI visuals that haven't been certified aren't supported. In the PDF, they display with an error message.

You can use Image Grid to replace the current image visual: Image by CloudScope. It is certified and can be displayed normally when export to PDF.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks very much for your response.

The visual i was using was the paginated report visual - a standard Microsoft Power BI visual so i would imagine this is certified as it isnt an add in.
I have since found the following documentation indicating that the export isnt supported for the paginated  report visual, published/updated on 12/05/2022, approximately 1 month prior to when my report stopped exporting.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/export-to

  • The Power BI visuals listed below aren't supported. When you export a report containing these visuals, the parts of the report that contain these visuals won't render, and will display an error symbol.
    • Uncertified Power BI custom visuals
    • R visuals
    • PowerApps
    • Python visuals
    • Power Automate
    • Paginated report visual
    • Visio

From reading this information and seeing updates relating to Paginated Reports in the latest release notes, I can only assume that the updates have come at the cost of having the export to file feature enabled when the paginated report visual is embedded in a Power BI report.  Its a little frustrating that i cannot find any information from Microsoft stating the reason for this feature stopping, or if it will ever be re enabled in the future.
