PBIX published but disconnected
Can some explain what is going on. I can publish this pbix no problem, but if one of my coleagues tries to publish it he gets a file published but disconnected.
If I go onto the service I see this. firstly there is a source ofr the analysis Service data which is a link to another modle published to the same workspace. Presuambly because it cant find this it has turned on the on premises gateway flag. The solution is turn off the on premises gateway and click in the maps to box and select the exisitng connection to trinity model and it works fine
so looks like this
So is this caused by some permissioning issue for my colleague over the Trinity model conenction I created?
the connection looks like this and we are using an admin login for the conenction and he is using the same admin login to publish (as do i) so expected it to work?
Go to Settings in Power BI Service and Choose Manage Connections and gateways.
There you will find the cloud connection used for your dataset.
Go to more actions and choose Manage Users and check if your collegue's Id is added as a User.

Hi masplin,
When you publish a PBIX to the Power BI Service, the dataset will stay connected only if:
- The data source credentials are configured properly in the Service.
- The dataset is mapped to the correct gateway/cloud connection.
- You have permission to use the data source in the gateway/cloud connection.
Required permissions -
- Build/Edit permission on the dataset
- Access to the gateway data source (granted by gateway admin) - Usually βUserβ access is enough to use the connection
- For cloud sources - access to the connection credentials

but he is using the same login as me so surely has the same permissions?

Super User
The account your collegue logs into the Power BI service with is the one that needs to be granted user permissions on the connection. Go to the connection and select manage users, verify that they have user permissions.

Hi masplin
Based off your responses, I do not think that the user is using the exact same account as you because if they would it should then map through correctly without any issues. So just confirm that that is the case and then make sure that you have created cloud connections for each of the data sources and the user has got permissions to use those cloud connections.
