PBI License Options

Hi,

We want to acquire PBI licenses for the organization. Is there any package available in which we can acquire limited number of Pro or Premium Licenses for report developers and for rest of the users free or low cost user licenses with view only access.

  • Hi Ahsan_Abidi ,

It all depends on number of end user vs power bi developer. If you have lot of end users who needs to just view the report, then we need to opt for P1/F64 capacity which allows end user to view the report without power bi pro license.

But if the end user is not that high and a limited set of self service business user and power bi developer then getting lower FSKUs and providing Power Pro licenses for these set of users will be cost effective.

As we know power bi pro license cost will be 14$ in next 2 months and 5000$ is P1/F64 capacity cost, it was considered 15$ * 334 users = approx 5000$ premium/F64 capacity.

So accordingly, we can estimate how many users will be there, if its at higher side then better to go for F64.

If this post helps, please accept this as a solution. Appreciate your kudos.

    Thanks,

    Pallavi

  • You are looking at a scenario where you would need a Premium or Fabric capacity (F64 or better).  There you can share via apps, and report users would not need a Pro license.

      Thank you for your response.

I would appreciate further guidance as I provide more details:

We have approximately 300 users in total. Our goal is to secure Pro licenses for about 50 users at $20 each (the cost in Pakistan). For the remaining 250 users, we would like to provide "View-only" access, allowing them to view reports and dashboards. Is there an option to offer this access at no additional cost?

If this is possible, could you please explain how it would work?

Please refer to pallavi_r 's response. You either need to add the cost of a F64, or you need to give all your users a Premium license.
