PBI Data Gateway to SQL Server on Azure VM - connections being weird

OK I think got this. Had to edit the config file on all gateways, to explicitely allow all the SQL Servers

I'd like to understand this better, since it triggers "wtf?" - i.e. being able to connect to the single most common data source type, should reuiqre manual entries in a text file, so I imagine I'm missing something.
