We have identified that the on-premises data gateway, specifically the ODBC connectors (e.g., Spark ODBC Driver), is using an outdated version of OpenSSL (3.0.13.0). This version contains known vulnerabilities (e.g., CVE-2024-4741). Since this package is essential for connecting Power BI to Databricks, we request Microsoft to provide an update or a workaround to mitigate these vulnerabilities. The lack of an update exposes critical infrastructure to potential security risks.
This issue has been reported before by other usersMS needs to update OpenSSL within On Premise Data Gateway , but no resolution has been provided yet.
