Only Dataset Sharing with end user

Deal All,

 

I want to share dataset with my end user so that they can create their own reports and dashboards what is the best practice for that(I know in PBI desktop, connect with the PBI services as a source!! but this required access to entire workspace)

We have premium capacity also.

 

1. Can access be provided to only one dataset not the entire workspace for the user.

2. If the dataset is hosted in premium workspace, can free licence  end user access the dataset( as premium is for capacity and pro is for user).

    1. I'm afraid not. Any user has access to a APP Workspace would have access permission to all datasets inside current workspace. For your requirement, you could share a single dataset to certain users via Content Pack. They could make a copy of content pack to generate their own reports and dashboards.

     

    2. Yes. Premium enables widespread distribution of content without requiring you to purchase per-user licenses for viewers. Reference: Power BI Premium - what is it?
