One or more cloud data sources for this semantic model have been deleted.

Hello,

I'm encountering an issue with a Power BI report that has been working perfectly until recently. Here's a summary of the problem:

Background: I have a report that has been published and running successfully in Power BI Service for a while. The report never required any configuration with gateways, and it has always connected to the data source (Google BigQuery) without issues.

  • Current Issue: I recently tried to upload the exact same report (which is still functioning correctly) to Power BI Service, but I am now receiving the following error message: "One or more cloud data sources for this semantic model have been deleted. Recreate cloud data sources."

  • Additional Information:

    • The original report that I published earlier is still working perfectly in the Power BI Service, but when I try to upload it now (to a different workspace or to the same workspace under a different name) it doesn't work.
    • There have been no changes to the data source, credentials, or the report itself.
    • I have attempted to troubleshoot by re-publishing the report, clearing browser cache, and checking data source settings, but the issue persists.
    • The "Recreate cloud data sources" button does not respond, and I am unable to enter or update credentials in the Power BI Service, as the section is grayed out.

This issue has emerged suddenly without any changes on my part, and I am unsure why the report now appears to require a gateway when it never did before.

How can I fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Did you click on the Recreate link?  Often the error goes away from that.

Did you recently attempt to merge an on-prem source and a cloud source?

Check the Data Source settings dialog in Power BI Desktop to make sure you haven't overlooked a rogue hyper-local data source.

Thank you for the quick response.

I was using one local CSV file alongside a BigQuery connection. After removing the local CSV file, everything works perfectly again. We must have introduced it after our last update. I'll transfer the CSV file to a cloud source and take it from there.

Thanks again for the help!
