Hi,
We have a VM running SQL Server located in Europe West. On that server we have installed a OnPrem Datagateway in order to let a cube within Azure Analysis Services (Europe west) to be processed.
Now I want to use the same gateway to connect directly to the SQL Server from the Power BI Service. How ever the Azure AD tenant is located in Europe North, which means that Power BI is located in Europe North, and because of that I cannot see my gateway within Power BI.
Is there any workaround for this, having a onprem GW in a different region compared to the Power BI Service?
Hi, @fosselius
The location of the gateway installation can have significant impact on your query performance. Try to make sure that your gateway, data source locations, and the Power BI tenant are as close as possible to each other to minimize network latency. If you intend to use the Power BI gateway with Azure Analysis Services, be sure that the data regions in both match. For more information about how to set data regions for multiple services, I'd like to suggest you watch this video.
Best Regards
Allan

Hi,
Okay, so the reason for not seeing the gateway is that is in another region? And it is not possible to have it like that?
