On premises data gateway on server
Hi,
I have On-Premesis data gateway installed on my machine, but when I turn off the laptop my refresh is failing so I want the gateway to be insatlled on a server which is never turned off.
Can someone help me on how to install the gateway on any Server or cloud.
Please help.
Thanks in Advance,

Hi @Anonymous
The answer is no, all data sources for a dataset have to belong to the same gateway in order for you to be able to refresh. In other word you need to consolidate all sources (that your dataset uses) in one location like add Excel data source and SQL Server data source and sharepoint file under a same on-premises gateway or user personal gateway to refresh your dataset

Hi @Anonymous
Installing the Gateway is the same everywhere, however it needs to be installed on-premises, where the data source is hosted. So if your data source is in your machine then that's where the gateway should be and when your machine goes off so does the Gateway. If your data source is in a remote server then you need to install the Gateway in there.

Hi Amine Jerbi,
Thanks for the reply, I have few questions
1)I am using different data sources like one from SQL Sever and one from sharepoint and one from local machine Excel file in a single report so for such cases how can I have my gateway insatlled on a server which is always on.
