On-premise data gateway network traffic
Hi,
I am attempting to draw a network traffic map for a Power BI deployment and I am therefore looking for any kind of documentation on how the On-prem Gateway communicates with the on-prem datasources in the form of ports (inbound/outbound), message types and protocols. There is plenty to be found regarding communication on the "outside" (via the Azure Service Bus), but I find less on the "inside", highlighted below.
Natrually, network traffic depends on data source, and I am specifically looking for the communication with an On-premise SharePoint instance (using the On-Prem Sharepoint connector and/or the OData feed).
Thanks!
Connection to the On-prem sharepoint uses the same 443 port as the Azure outbound (unless you have a special special setup for https). As you noted other ports depend on the targeted on-prem data sources and their TCP/UDP needs (1433, 1525 etc.)
