On-premise data gateway doesnt starts automatically after host reboot

Dear all,

We are facing the following issue. Every time the server (where PBI gateway is hosted) is rebooted, it is required our login to the host to start the "on-premises data gateway service".

As you may see the "startup Type" for this service is set at "Automatic". I tried also at state "Automatic (Delayed Start)" with also no success

The gateway version is the latset available as you may see

Do you have any idea?

Thank you in advance

Hi @JohnBolanis

That should be working fine then. Can you make sure that it is not set to be a delayed start?

And also any Anti Virus is excluded from scanning this folder where the EXE is?

Thank you so much @GilbertQ! I changed the start type to "Automatic" as well as i gave full permissions to user PBIEgwService on the folder where the EXE file exists and that seems to solved the issue!

Hi @JohnBolanis

What is the service account running as? It could possibly be that the service cannot start because it is using a user domain account which needs to be authenticated before it can then successfully stop the service. What you could do is make sure that the local service account is local system, just to see if that will work after it is being rebooted.

Hi @GilbertQ

Thanks for the reply, the user under which the service run is the default NT Service\PBIEgwService. This user has also been added to the administrator user group

Do i still need to change it to local service account?
