I have a similar problem as described in theis thread:
But I not sure I understand the solution!!?? I have downloaded and installed my on premise data gateway and assigned it to my Power BI. But the gateway is NOT listed. I have the same screen shoot as in the link referred to above. Can this be a security issue? I am using a Office 365 Trial and Microsoft Account, NOT a working account. Could that be the issue. I have tried to install the Gateway from 2 different machines and same result.
TIA
Bobby
Hi @Anonymous,
In your scenario, please check if data source used in report is supported to use data gateway. Currently, available data source types in data gateway are:
If the data source you connects to is in the list, you can add a data source under the gateway, use the same connection information. Please see: Manage your data source - SQL Server.
If not, please install a personal gateway. For more information, please refer to this article: Gateway connection.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
Best Regards,

I will answer this my self. Embarrasing enough i just needed to find out how to configure the data source.. Sorry 🙂
Can you please explain your solution further? Your posted solution is even more vague as the one in the link you provided.
