On Premises Gateway for Linux Server

Hello Everyone,

I have a MySQL data source that It's on a Linux Server and I would like to configure data source on the Power BI web service and create a Schedule Refresh. But, it requires the on-premises gateway to be installed on Linux Server.

As I know that it is not possible to install a gateway in Linux server. So, could you please suggest for any possible alternatives?

Thanks

You don't have to install the gateway on the same server

Install it on a Windows VM that would be able to access data source

We have one gateway, that has access to both Oracle and SQL server data sources

So the answer is it's not possible to install the gateway on Linux? It makes little sense, in such case we need to maintain a windows machine dedicated just for the gateway, meaning additional cost...

What kind of rights and how should the Microsft gateway server needs access to the Linux MYSQL server? ODBC? SSH?

my database is on linux ec2 server, can i use install gateway on another windows vm on ec2? i tried, the published report on powerBI service still can not refresh.

What configuration you should perform on the PBI Cloud server to connect to the windows virtual server where the gateway will be installed. Thank you.

I have a Raspberry Pi/Linux server that runs MariaDB with the dataset I'd like refreshed. Is the solution to install the onprem gateway on that always-on machine inside a Windows VM (headless)? That, in turn, should allow me to toggle on the Schedule Refresh, every day after midnight, so I have the newest dataset for the report when opening it on mobile, even when not on WiFi but on 5G/outside of the LAN, correct?
