On Premises Data Gateway - Managed Service Account for SQL Connection

We're building a Power BI report that uses data on an on-premises SQL server.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use a Managed Service Account for the SQL connection (which will manage it's own password resets)?

Yes, it is possible to use a Managed Service Account (MSA) for the SQL connection when using the On-Premises Data Gateway with Power BI.

To do this, you will need to configure the On-Premises Data Gateway to use the MSA account when connecting to the SQL Server. This can be done by following these steps:

• 1. Install the On-Premises Data Gateway on a server that has access to the SQL Server.
• 2. Configure the On-Premises Data Gateway to use the MSA account by selecting "Use Windows Authentication" and entering the MSA account name in the "Username" field.
• 3. Configure the data source in Power BI to use the On-Premises Data Gateway as the gateway for the data source.
• 4. Test the connection to ensure that it is working correctly.

Keep in mind that using a MSA for the SQL connection requires some additional setup and configuration, so you may want to consult with your IT department or a qualified SQL Server administrator to ensure that everything is set up correctly.
