Hello guys!
i have a question about automatically updating reports in the Power BI service via the local gateway.
I am going on vacation next week and a report should be available every morning at 06:00 AM.
Now I have set the scheduled update as a test.
So I log off in the evening and switch off my PC. But in the morning I have an error message in my mailbox that the update failed.
My Windows account has no administrator permissions.
Do I have to be logged in to have the report updated automatically or is there no solution with the Personal Gateway that the report is updated even i'm not logged in to my Windows account.
Thanks a lot!
Chris

Hi, if you run a personal mode it is an app. An app in windows needs a user to run. You have to be logged in by default. That's one of the biggest difference with on premise data gateway enterprise mode. The enterprise mode is a Service inside windows. That means it can run without your user because it has a user for itself. (kind of, it's not exactly like that, but the explanation will help the point)
You must have the pc on with the user logged in at 6am if you want the data to be refreshed. The best idea in Bi is keeping a VM or Server with gateway that won't be ever shutdown. That way you can configure all schedules you want for all reports.
