On Premise Data Gateway connection in two different machines

Hello guys, how are you?

I have a quick question. I will give you some context before:

I have my own account of Power BI (PBI) & I have the access to the reports in a PBI Workspace.

Currently I use the On Premise Data Gateway in my own computer, and I can manage everything as I use the same accounts and the same machine in bote (Gateway & PBI).

From now, I would like to install the Gateway in another machine (with my same account) and use the Gateway there. Then, all the configurations of the refresh in the different reports I want to configure them through my own PC (without the gateway).

Is this possible? Will I be able to do it and connect new sources as they appear? Do I have to do something special for this to work?

Thanks a lot in advance!

@iglesias6 I'm having a bit of trouble understanding this. If you refresh a Desktop report while on your computer, it won't use the gateway regardless. Only if you refresh from the Service will it actually use the gateway. If you install the 2nd gateway in a different gateway cluster then you should be able to control which gateway is used based upon which gateway has which data connections configured on it. Is your current gateway a personal gateway or standard (enterprise) gateway?

Hey @iglesias6 ,
@Greg_Deckler touched the most important thing about this topic.
Maybe one additional thing from my side: you have to add your connections to the sources to your new gateway cluster to be able to use it for model refreshes.
After adding you should be able to choose the sources in the new gateway cluster to refresh your data from service.
Hope this was a bit helpful.

Regards

It is a standard (enterprise) gateway.

More context: my PBI reports are connected to Postgres bases and Sharepoint Lists which require autentication and permissions to connect (They also have another stuff like Excel files or Salesforce connections). Some of them require the Gateway
