On Premise Data Gateway Cluster - Server location

Hello, we are using the 2 servers with on premise data gateway service configure as a gateway cluster. Actually, both servers are located in the same datacenter but I would like to know if it could still work nicely if we move one of the servers in a different datacenter to avoid loosing the service in case of datacenter disaster. Should we expect problems with PowerBI doing so, will the load balancing be impacted by the server move. Is it a supported configuration?

regards,

robert

Hey @bob_bouch ,

you can install the nodes of a gateway cluster wherever you want, you have to consider the following:

  • both nodes mus be able to connect to the Gateway Cloud Service, the point where the nodes will be registered
  • both nodes should be located close to the data sources

Especially the second point is vital for the performance of the gateway cluster.

Hopefully, this helps to make your decision.

Regards,

Tom
