I'm trying to create a report with a direct connection to a table in SQL that contains data for all of our clients. Each client has hundreds of thousands of rows, sometimes in the millions. We want to be able to have the end users of the report in Power BI Service be able to first select a client before loading the data and the report to limit the quantity of data being pulled in from the server each time.
Is this possible?

I'm trying to create a report with a direct connection to a table in SQL that contains data for all of our clients. This mean you a creating a "Direct Query" report, so yes it will work
You select a client in a filter, then hit apply. Then the query for the selected client will be sent to data source, and return to the report, so only selected client information is loaded and viewable in the report.
Yes it is possible with Query Reduction. Go to File > Options and settings > Options in your Power BI Desktop.
Does this just give the ability to hit 'apply' when choosing a filter? What I'm looking to do is have the user select a client from a list then the query will run and populate the report based on that selection so the data is not pulled for all clients. It seems like this option is only for filters within the report, in which case the data for all clients would already need to be loaded.
