On Demand Refresh Fails

Hi All,

I have a report published in a premium workspace but when I do a on demand refresh it keeps failing. The message says scheduled refresh has been disabled. Details: Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh. 

 

Well thats right becuase I don't want a scheduled refresh only on demand.

 

I have had to republish the report and over write the existing data set to get to refresh. 

 

Do I have to have a gateway personal\business setup with a schedule for a on demand refresh to work?

    Before doing an on-demand (or scheduled) refresh in the Power BI service, you have to set up a gateway connection to the datasources used in your dataset. So no need for a scheduled refresh to be set up, but you do need that entry in the Power BI gateway.
