ODBC architecture mismatch when refreshing data

Hi there,

I am working for an agency that is restricted to using a 32-Bit ODBC connection. I have 32-Bit Power BI Desktop installed & have had no issues with connecting to our data & building a dashboard. However, when I publish my dashboard & attempt to refresh the data, I receive this error:

I have read some previous forums with this issue, but they are dated to 2017. I am hoping that there is a solution.

Unfortunately, I can only use a 32-bit driver connection & cannot update to 64.
Thank you in advanced!

Kelly

Hi @KellyZhou444

@GilbertQ Good share!

Considering that you can only use a 32-bit ODBC connection with Power BI Desktop, try the following solutions:

Make sure that the on-premises data gateway used to refresh data in the Power BI service is also a 32-bit version to match the 32-bit ODBC driver and Power BI Desktop.

You need to install the 32-bit Data Gateway if it is not installed. If you installed the 64-bit version, you will need to replace it with the 32-bit version.

After installing the correct version of the data gateway, configure the data source to use the 32-bit ODBC driver.

Go to the "Manage Gateway" section in the Power BI service and set up the data source with the correct credentials and connection details.

Test the connection and make sure the data source is configured correctly in the local data gateway. This can be done through the data gateway settings in the Power BI service.

Once the data source is configured correctly, try refreshing the dataset again in the Power BI service.

If the refresh fails, check for specific error messages. If the problem persists, viewing the logs in the local data gateway may provide additional information.

Nono Chen

Hi @Anonymous

This is unfortunately not accurate advice and you can ONLY install a 64bit Gateway as per the link below.

Hi @KellyZhou444

As far as I am away, power BI only uses 64 bit drivers, so you would need to find a way to download and install the 64 bit drivers.
