Not possible to change connection to Power BI Service ?

Hi

If i create a PBIX where i connect to a model/dataset in the Power BI service, how can i then change the connection afterwards ?

Lets say that i make a set of reports and then the ones responsible for the model releases a new version with new name. It would be nice to be able to edit the live connection

Copy PBIX to ZIP. Open ZIP file. Edit Connections file. Rename ZIP file to PBIX.

Hi Lydia,

Any idea when this functionality might be released?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi all
I just tested, it's actually fixed. No need to do the .zip thing
In the workbook that is connected to a model in the PowerBI service you can now click the arrow down on the "edit query" although the icon is grey. Here you can then edit the connection 🙂

That is awesome! You can even move between workspaces now!

How?

As far as I know, it's not possible to move a report from one workspace to another.

Just re-publish the .pbix from the desktop to the other workspace.

This can't be done if the report was created inside Power BI Service.

But one thing i found is that you can only upload to the same workspace as where the model is. Alternative i guess is to use Azure analysis service if you want users creating their own reports based on your model and saving them to their own workspace! ?
