New table to imported Excel dataset

Hi all,

I have created a dataset by importing an Excel file with one defined range from a SharePoint Team site. This works and is refreshed as I change the data.

I would like to be able to add table ranges, effectively new tables, in the same Excel file and have them appear automatically in the Power BI service.

Is this possible? Or do I need to create a new Excel file and import it again each time I want to add a table?

Regards,

Óskar Friðrik

    Hi Anonymous ,

Which mode you use to connect excel file? Upload or import? If you are works on import mode, I don't think these imported contents can synced changes which you apply on excel workbooks.

      Hi Anonymous ,

I'm using Import and it is syncing the data when I update it. It is just not picking up a new table/range that I have added.

        HI Anonymous ,

Import will cache excel date structure to dataset. For power bi dataset, its data structure not able dynamic changes.
You need to import new excel file to replace cached data structure, otherwise only original data fields will been updated.(new fields not auto added to dataset)
