New feature: page refresh not working?

I have configured the auto refresh:

And i published the report...

The report has a few card visuals

When i have it open for hours... I can see in another window my card updating the data!! but in my original browser tab, (that I had open for many many hours, it never updates!!!!!)

Why is this happening? is there a way to fully force an F5 on the browser?

(after many hours of waiting, I just clicked F5 and as expected the data updated).

    Hi Anonymous ,

Have you resolve your issue now? Could you please tell me does it work well on the Power BI Desktop?  Whether it can be refreshed normally?

Could you please tell me if you configure automatic page refresh for reports in the Power BI service, the steps are similar to Power BI Desktop?  Could you please tell which workspace you published to the Service?

    • Shared workspaces. For regular workspaces (workspaces that aren't part of a Premium capacity), automatic page refresh has a minimum interval of 30 minutes (the lowest interval allowed). Change detection refresh type is not available in shared capacities.
    • Premium workspaces. The availability of automatic page refresh in Premium workspaces (both for fixed interval and change detection) depends on the workload settings your Premium administrator has set up for the Power BI Premium capacity.

When you publish your automatic page refresh-enabled report from Power BI Desktop to the service, you'll have to provide the credentials for the DirectQuery data source on the dataset settings menu. You can set up the credentials so report viewers access this data source with their own identities, respecting any security set up at the source. In the case of change detection measure, it will always be evaluated with the author's credentials.

    Limitations:

    • Import storage mode is not supported for automatic page refresh.
    • Composite models that have at least one DirectQuery data source are supported.
    • You can only have one change detection measure per dataset.
    • There can only be a maximum of 10 models with change detection measure in a Power BI tenant.

I have also found a similar post, please refer to it to see if it helps you.

Does the Auto Page Refresh work in Power BI Service

    • Power BI service will override your interval to respect the minimum interval set by your capacity administrator.

If I have misunderstood you meaning, please provide more details.

  • Hi Anonymous ,

This might be happening because of the browser cache.
Can you try the same in Incognito mode to remove any browser cache dependency?

Also, I hope you are not connected to dataset on Import mode of connection since Auto Page Refresh is valid only for DirectQuery and some Live Connected data sources.

I am consuming live from an SSAS. I do not want any change detection feature! I just want an f5 on the browser being done...

I had my report open for a day now, and It never updated a single number so far!
