New column doesn't work

Hi all

I'm trying to add a column in my Power BI data.

The calculation of the new column is simple, I just want to extract substring after '^^' but I get an error, what's wrong?

The formula and the error are shown in the picture

RIGHT function (DAX) - DAX | Microsoft Learn

RIGHT can't be used with DirectQuery, it's wierd, it's not a so complex work

Thanks @nvprasad, yes I configured a direct query connection towards Google Cloud Platform.

Unfortunately I have no write access to the back end data source, just read only, can it be the reason of the error?

If so, is there a possibility to create a new column directly on PowerBI without asking back end data source to do anything?

Hi,

I assume your report is having direct query or live connection with the data source. In this case, PowerBI sends your formula back to the data soruce for calculaiton. During this phase it tries to change formula which can be done at data source.

In your case, It seems the above dax logic not able to perofrm at back end data source.

Try to add column at backend by creating view for testing purpose. If you are able to do then create in powerbi .

Thank you
