New Slicer - Not syncing across pages in service

I have the new slicer on multiple pages set to sync between pages. It works fine in desktop but does not sync in service

I have the same problem. If I use a page navigator or individual buttons to move between pages, the original Slicer remains synchronized as expected. However, Slicer (new) doesn't. It "forgets" the selection when you arrive on the new page. This happens locally in Power BI Desktop and on the service.

Do the following to reproduce the problem :

  1. Create 2 pages, say Page 1 and Page 2.
  2. On Page 1, add a Slicer and a Slicer (new). Add the same column to both slicers. For example, I used the name of the month.
  3. Copy both slicers from Page 1 and paste them on Page 2, and Sync both of them.
  4. On Page 1, insert a Page navigator button. Copy the Page navigator to Page 2.
  5. Select an item in Slicer, and click any page in the page navigator. The Slicer value remains selected. It remains selected if you click any page in the page navigator.
  6. Clear the selection from Slicer and then select an item in Slicer (new), and click any page in the page navigator. The Slicer (new) value is "forgotten". The same problem happens if you use individual buttons instead of a page navigator.

Note that Slicer (new) gives the illusion that the slicers are synced if you click the Page 1 or Page 2 tabs at the bottom of the report ; the selection will persist. However, if you use a button or page navigator, the selections are forgotten.

I'm using Power BI Desktop version: 2.123.742.0 64-bit (2023 November).

Exact same problem in December 2023 desktop version

Hi @julia_p

If the new slicer is not MSFT certified or the Admin Tenant doesn't accept custom visuals then it might not work properly.

Hi @aj1973  - I am talking about the new PowerBI slicer, not a custom visual.

You talked about a "new slicer" that's why I was confused.

Please publish the report into another WS and see if the problem is solved.

Yeah, the visual is called Slicer (new) so I didnt know what else to call it.....

What do you mean "another WS"? I am trying to figure out where to report it.

It works just fine for me in the service as well.

Here is what to do :

  • Open your report in the desktop
  • delete all slicers from all pages
  • add one to a page
  • Copy/Paste the slicer in every page and click on the green button Sync evry time you pastaj1973_0-1702311189652.png
