New Gateway Not Recognized by the Service
I have one Microsoft Data Gateway installed, but we needed a new one in in "sitting" in an specific spot in the AWS world. I installed and setup the new Gateway. The new Gateway says status is online and ready to be used, version 3000.282.5 (August 2025). It recognzies Power Apps, Powe Automte is in the right region and says "Ready". It says MS Faibri is in the Default environment and "Ready". See screenshot below.
HOWEVER, In the Fabaric/Power BI Service I got to Manage Connections and Gateways it does not show my new gateway. I does show my existing Gateway. I also checked in Power Automate and it does not show the new Gateway there either.
What am I missing?
I did tell the Gateway software to do a restart seeing if that wold change anything. Then restarrted the server but nothing. The network port test show "32/32 tests succeeded".
Thoughts?
thanks
Alan
So the last Gateway I setup was years ago. I even migrated that gateway to a new server, but did not have to touch the Fabric/Power BI side. (Side note migrating the gateway from one server to antoher like when the server OS was EoL was super easy... MS did a good job).
So I did not see this in the documenation or the way it was written I just badly overlooked it (I proaby just missed it). I installed the new gateway with a service account. So when I went to Manage Conections and Gateways it by default only shows gateways assigned to you. Thus did not show the Gateway to me as I was logged on as my account not the service accont.
I turned on "Tenant administration" on the top right corder of the On-Premises data gateways. Saw my new gateway. Went down hand hovered over clicking on the 3 dots. Updated the settings to allowed what wanted. I knew that would not fix it but... Then i went back to the 3 dots and did "Mange users". I added my account and a few others. then went back and set my permissions to Admin and other to other approperate levels. Now the gateway shows up and all is good.
I do appreciate your ideas on this.. I even asked a few of the AI tools out there and they did not have a good suggestion.
Hope my steps help someone else.

asjones I wonder if you added this gateway to the same existing gateway cluster? If so, it can sometimes be tricky to get to the details of the gateway cluster.

I guess you added this new gateway as a new cluster but not as a node under existing cluster.
If you have tenant admin permissions then, on the "Manage gateways and connections" page, turn on the "Tenant adminstration" toggle and check whether the new gateway that you have added is appearing or not.
If it is appearinig then you might not have necessary permissions on the gateway cluster, add your self as gateway admin. Then you will be able to see the gateway even when the tenant adminstration toggle is turned off.

Your new gateway is online, but it’s not showing in Power BI or Power Automate because the region of the gateway doesn’t match your tenant’s region. Even if it says “Ready,” it won’t appear unless it’s installed in the same region as your Power BI/Power Platform environment.
✅ Fix:
Uninstall the gateway and reinstall it in the correct region that matches your tenant. Also make sure it’s in Standard mode and signed in with the same account as your Power BI admin.
