New Deployment Access - Contributors

Has anyone seen this message pop-up lately for Deployment piplines?  It sounds obvious contributors will be able to now deploy without needing "Member" role but, I'm curious to find more information or links or where to disable if needed.

New deployment access. Beginning in late July 2024, workspace contributors with access to this pipeline will be able to deploy content.

We would like to disable this feature and let the customers use desingated deployment team via "Member" role.  Many workspaces have several contributors don't intend to deploy.  I'm asking Microsoft if there's a feature or setting in Tenant settings to disable or control this feature.

Thank you all. My question was to see if there's any more information or to disable this feature if needed for contributors to be able to deploy content.  Some customers may not want this feature and they have designated deployment team with a change control etc.,

Hi @pvuppala ,

If you are the tenant admin then you will be able to disable deployment pipeline creation across your organisation.This is want we are doing in our organisation for years.So,no one will create a deployment pipeline without our notice.

I don't know if it's related to this change or just a coincidence, but today my deployment pipeline stopped working.

The "Compare" link was not available, and when I tried to deploy an item to the Test environment, it showed the message "Copying the content to this workspace...". It's still stuck there and the pipeline is not working anymore...

I'm the admin of all the workspaces involved and the owner of the pipeline.

Contributor Role:

• Contributors can now deploy reports and datasets from Development to Test, and from Test to Production.
• This role includes deploying content, but contributors still cannot manage workspace settings or delete the workspace.

Ensure Contributor Access:

• Verify that the users who need to deploy content have the Contributor role in the relevant workspaces.
• Go to the workspace settings and check the access list to confirm the roles.
