Hi all,
A coworker has built a report upon an existing Power BI dataset. He requested some new measures, but after I included and uploaded it to the dataset it is not showing up in that report. It is showing up in the original report with the dataset.
Any idea what the issue here is? I expected it to appear once the dataset were uploaded to the service.
Best regards,
Radiator
Hi @radiator ,
First, make sure that the dataset is refreshed in the Power BI service after adding the new measure.
Because any changes made in Power BI Desktop need to be published and then refreshed in the Power BI service to be reflected in all connected reports.
For information on refreshing Power BI datasets, please see:
Tutorial: Connect to on-premises data in SQL Server - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Second, make sure the colleague has build permissions on the dataset.
Without build permissions, they may not be able to view or use the new measures in reports.
Finally, if the report is connection mode is "Live Connect", measures added directly in Power BI may not appear in the connected report.
More information can be found in item 10 of the Limitations section of the document below:

WHAT? MAY NOT???? Are you kidding me, what is the point of live connect then? And may not, so might happen, might not, that sounds very concerning in itself. And I presume you don't know why or why not it's working either?
This is VERY CONCERNING and adds to the list of strange issues in the Microsoft suite lately. Get your act together!

Hi @radiator
I am guessing your are talking about a Thin report(A report that is separated from its semantic model) ! If so then you need to update it as well.
