Need help with Insights

I keep coming up empty when looking for insights. I need an informed opinion (aka "insight") on the following line from the official documentation:

"Anomalies and trends are only supported for built-in date hierarchy or date time fields"

Does this mean if I use my standard Date table, I cannot get insights? Seems odd since any serious developer would never use Auto Date/Time.

Or does "built-in data hierarchy" only mean standard Year/Month/Day hierarchy?

This may seem picky, but I searching for my very first "Hello World" insight.

The way I understand it is that either it has to use the builtin time hierarchy, which I agree I dont use. Or you have to have a column that is datetime and not just date for it to work.

You are correct, Date-Time is required.

We are reporting on a monthly granularity for the high volume facts. So I changed my Report Month field, previousky forced as yyyy-mm-01 to to a DateTime column and the insights appeared. Mercifully, they did not mention that a whole lot of stuff happens at 12:00:00 AM.
