Need Help: Identifying Blanks in Environment with lots of Relationships and Measures
Hello all,
In my relatively new job, I took over a Power BI reporting environment where my predecessor used many relationships and measures to develop the front-end Power BI Report dashboards. Much of the data is coming in from dataflows and datasets connecting to excel spreadsheets and sharepoint lists that are maintained by our team members. I understand that there are trade offs in performance and efficiency when building reporting in this manner, using Power BI relationships and measures, as opposed to using merges/joins to create back-end views with calculated columns.
However, the issue I am running into is that there are blank or empty values that are showing up in the dashboard where clearly some of the financial data is not dynamically joining through the relationships established appropriately, and I am having trouble identifying these entries.
Can someone please advise if there is a best practice or method in environments with heavy relationships and measures used to identify where blanks are stemming from? Or would the best method be for me to (in excel or BI) emulate the relationships and measures through mergers and calculated columns following the steps he took and use a new view to identify the entries that aren't matching.

are you able to share a screenshot of your model view. it sounds like you have limited relationships, so you might not have all the matching data you need
A model relationship is limited when there's no guaranteed "one" side.
ideally i would be working on maybe iteratively pushing as much of the transforming of your model in power query. However difficult to answer the question well without seeing an example of the problem and what your model looks like
